Charming aspects of Tamil Nadu , India



Located at the southern tip of India, Tamilnadu is one of the most alluring and culturally rich state of our country.

Hemmed by azure water of two vast oceans namely Bay of Bengal from east and Indian ocean from south and some south Indian states like Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu will surely leave you spellbound with its exotic collection of natural and artificial treasures. Be it the exotic beaches, salubrious hill stations, magnificent temples of yesteryears, fascinating rock cut architecture, and endless array of flora and fauna, Tamil Nadu has everything within its territory.

With the gradual passage of time, Tamil Nadu has evolved as a perfect blend of Dravidian culture and cosmopolitan lifestyle. Chennai, the capital city of the state is the finest exemplar of this trend. Apart from Chennai, Tamil Nadu also has long list of charming places.

Some of the famous attractions of Tamil Nadu are as follows:-
Temples of Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu has numerous large and small temples, which are dotted in various corners of the state. These temples displays an unique architectural designs and bedecked with lofty Gopurams. Some of the famous temple cities of the state are Madurai, Trichy, Kanchipuram, Tanjore, Palani, Tiruvallur and Mahabalipuram, which have a good collection of temples like Sri Meenakshi Temple, Brahadeeswara temple, Sri Nataraja Temple, Ramanathaswamy Temple, Madurai Murugan Temple and many more.

Hill Stations of Tamil Nadu: This southernmost state is also blessed with some of the best hill stations of our country. Unlike the hill resorts of North India, summer destinations of Tamil Nadu don't possess vast expanses of snow or glistening snowy mountain peaks. But, Tamil Nadu, hill stations are no less in beauty than the hill resorts of North India. Some of the salubrious hill stations of the state are Ooty, Kodaikanal, Coonor, Kotagiri, Vellangiri hills, Yellagiri and Yercaud. These less explored hill resorts of our country are paradise for adventure buffs and provides an ample of scope for trekking, hang-gliding, fishing and golf etc.

Beaches of Tamil Nadu: Vast coastal area is another charming facet of Tamil Nadu. This state is famous for having the second longest beach in world known as Marina beach. Other fantastic beaches of the state are Mahabalipuram Beach, Rameshwaram Beach, Kanyakumari Beach, Covelong beach etc. These beaches are very popular among both national and international tourists for their golden sands, azure sea water and surfing opportunities. Some of them are also popular for their serene ambiance.
Wildlife Sanctuaries and National parks of Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu houses some of the remarkable species of flora and fauna within its territory. These are available in various wildlife sanctuaries and national parks in the state. Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park, Mukuruthi National park, Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National park, Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park, Kanyakumari Wildlife Sanctuary, Kalakad Sanctuary etc. A wildlife trip to these protected areas would enable the holidaymakers to have a close glimpse of the wildlife species of the state.
